Febuary 1, 2023- Please bare with me as I am moving to another server...Again! It takes time to do so as
I have had a stroke but that does not effect my dogs!

Also, it takes time to relearn any new hosting server and set up the files!

Another Important Notice! (September 1, 2021)

On September 1, 2021 the UKC (United Kennel Club) has made the Acquisition of the FDSB effective Immediately. Such transition can be only noted on the American Fields web site by inspecting thier Logo and the official announcement can be seen in the link below!
FDSB - https://americanfield.villagesoup.com/p/official-announcement-regarding-american-field-publishing-company-and-the-united-kennel-club/1896670?fbclid=IwAR0sX7zOXlpU-TiE2RmL5HDsKOZehuvBuNG919R3ohtxvr_7UUUqYPKD6mM

According to the UKC (website) statement found on the (UKC's September 1,2021 sporting news) section:
https://www.ukcdogs.com/all-breed-sports-news
the transition will not effect the integrity of the Llewellin Setter status or name and we all can be assured of the continuation of the dogs prestige and registry in the years to come. As stated on the UKC web-site -

UKC: “We received several questions and concerns from the Llewellin Setter community. Find comfort in the fact that our intent is to continue to maintain the standards set forth by FDSB for the registration of Llewellin Setters. Dogs not verified through DNA profiles and in accordance with current registration rules and policies will not be brought into the registry as Llewellin Setters. In addition to Llewellin Setters, a few other breeds were previously recognized exclusively by either FDSB or UKC. It is our vision moving forward that the joining of our two registries will open doors to some new opportunities for several breeds that did not previously exist.”

Likewise, as the owner of Dickens Llewellin’s, I will still strive to maintain the standards of integrity in my Llewllin breeding practices as well as that based on the past FDSB rules and regulations. Keep in mind! Since the UKC acquisition is quite new (at the time of this notice) Dickens Llewellin’s will also be reviewing and restructuring as to incorporate any new policies and standards set forth or inherited by the UKC/FDSB transition as to maintain compliance and to continue the integrity of the Llewellin Lineage.

In saying and reporting all the above, as the transitions occurs (if any noticeable) please be aware that any claims made on the Dickens Llewellin web-site reflce that of the FDSB and does not include any new updates in regards to the UKC transition or policies at this time as they have yet to be established, announced, made public, intergrated or reviewed.
As with any new adjustments, it will take some time for any modifications and adjustments to become known and appear on my web-site.

Please be patient and understand it will be a new venture and transition for everyone.

Shipping and Delivery

Over the years I have driven to many states and many thousands of miles as to personally deliver my Llewellin setter puppies to their new owners.

Driving these long distances can become very daunting task (especially with one or more Llewellin Setter Puppies) as a setter pup does not want to sit still or stay clean in a puppy crate for long periods of time. But it is a must if a Llewellin setter puppy is to make it new home.

In such regards, I have decided to revise my delivery policy and offer the options below for Out of State and Local Deliveries.

Kelt Pet Transport-
I received a call from this pet transport offering their services. I like the thought of their localized availability (TN, and its also only about 80 miles away from my facility)... "A close in pet transport service outside of the mainstream overpiced commercial services."

Above I mention “Localized Delivery” but it seems I remember a mention of Out of State extended transport services” as well. This would only make a more logical sense as most demands for pet transport seems too be in some distant state destination as the (puppy litter) Owner of the pup is constricted by their home and other pet obligations.

I am open consider this service, but have yet too confirm all of its merits. So far they appear too be a legitimate pet transport service. But I am very protective of my pets and puppy's transport outside of my personal care, the transfer's of custody's and possession's!
Thus, I still have more concerns and questions before I can offer a full endorsement with any assurance.

In saying that and in my first interview, they speak and sound like the real deal! They spoke the pet transport language and seem too know the ropes. That's a good step forward in my book and the only reason they appear on my website!

In saying that, I am still investigating and investigate any services before I will release any of my Llewellin setter puppies into the open wild.
Thus I am extra cautious these days before I release a Llewellin setter puppy and always on guard against Pet theft and scam/con games, and those who try too doo flip sales, or Petnapping/hostage situations. But like I stated, Kelt seems too be the turstworthy, dependable real deal Pet transport!

Pricing
When it comes to getting/finding a new Llewellin Setter Puppy near you, there is always several hidden expenses depending on your specific situation and the location where you reside. Items such as a coller and leash, dual purpose containment/travel pet crate, fenced in yard, puppy foods, local laws and regulations, etc.

Due too the various distance between the new Llewellin Setter Puppy and its new home, few people consider the most important burden- “Either driving the distance and picking up the puppy personally or requesting its safe delivere too their door or meeting/pickup point!”

With all the ludicrous price of inflation in prices today, its hard for anyone (even me) too judge a decent travel fee and a seta price tag... (a flat fee or per travel mile) for performing such services and/or task.
Lucky I guess, I do have a cretin degree of years experience and knowledge on the topic and service.

However, I feel Kelt Pet Transport is off too a good start and offers a fair and decent rates when considering all the work and risk involved. wear and tears, man hour’s and travel times, distanc miles, the work, state business license, bonded and regulations, and other overhead expenses that I estimate a delivery service would incur.

Its always a 2 way trip for any delivery service so I am sure that cost plays is factored in' any (per mile “one way" final fee.)!

Dickens Llewellins Delivery
  •  Bob Dickens Jr.

As you can tell from the photo, my transportation needs an upgrade too a slightly newer modle!!!!!

Therefore, Me, Myself and I, have all decided to restrict my travel zone to deliveries to 150 miles. As we all know 2.5 hour trip can quickly can turn into 6+ hours as I have to consider the round trip and any traffic delays or emergency Puppy stops along the way. So I do have to charge a reasonable fee as I have to consider my time and all other the factors of a round trip, plus prep time. But such does offer a second option for those who are closer.

Thus, I offer my delivery service only as to convenience local and close surrounding state customers who may find it quicker and/or less costly to meet at some half way meeting point to pick up their new pup.

At current, my schedule allows a little flexibility of deliver dates, but my kennel, dogs, and other obligations suffer the inconvenience when I travel to make a delivery. Thus such is one of the many reasons for my limited delivery range and fee.

The last thing I want to do is deliver a nasty puppy or deal with the odors while on the road!
On any prior day of delivery, my pups are bathed the night before and crate kenneled over night. Many times the young pup is not cooperative and will usually require second bath the following morning due to overnight accidents. Such is not something you want wake up to or do first thing in the morning, in a rush, and before breakfast, and especially if not wearing nasty puppy bathing clothes! Thus accidents can take some of the allotted (and additional) time which will usually alter any agreed meeting time.

Customers should realize this can happen during the trip as well and cause alterations in the agreed meeting times.

Air Transport
  •  Air Cargo Delivery

Due to Covid 19 some airlines have a restriction (Embargo) for shipping pets.
It is best to call me first to see if I am offering the Air Shipping Option!

I do ship Nation wide in the US via Air cargo using various Airlines.

Many times a customer may live outside the range of a reasonable shipping and transports time-frame and it becomes necessary to consider shipping the Puppy VIA Air Cargo due to the vast distance and in the best interest of the puppy.

Customers who are considering Air Shipment should be aware that the Air Cargo shipping option has many regulations and guidelines that must be followed to finest details else the airlines may refuse to accept the puppy for shipping.

Approved Veterinarian Health Check (AVHC)- All the Airlines I use requires a AVHC before accepting a puppy and the AVHC is only valid for a 10 day window of when the pup is to be shipped!
The AVHC has never been an issue for me as all my Llewellin’s and litters of pups are well cared for and in excellent health. However customers should be aware that all the shipping preparation's, travel, Vet checks, Paperwork, etc creates expenses not associate with normal shipping and can take up to 2 weeks and therefore needs to be a coordinate effort!

Weather conditions and temperatures play a very large role as most Airlines will not accept a puppy if the temperature is above 85 (F) or below 45 (F) degrees. Airlines also vary on the age of the pup but most all will not accept a puppy (USDA rule) if it is less than 8 weeks old (some airlines stipulate 10 to 16 weeks old).

As conveyed above, Air Cargo shipping varies between the various airlines and each may have their own set of standards in shipping as well as many different guidelines outside of the FAA and USDA and may be applied too:

As I stated, I can and do ship using various Air Cargo services but everything in regards to Air Cargo shipping is based on Airline Availability, their Regulations and Guidelines as well as that of the USDA, FDA. Due to all the above, it is not a simple one day effort as there is a lot of preparations, expenses and travel involved on my behalf which can take up to 3 full days of effort, travel, expenses and attention to details.
Because of such additional efforts and overheads, I do charge an additional fee ($200) for this shipping option and such fee is separate from any other customer shipping obligations.

Please see and read the “Other shipping Options” in the last topic section at the bottom of this page.

I do not Endorse nor Recommend this option for the reasons below!

One section of the FAA guidelines/rules for "Carry On Pets" that all Commercial Airlines are required to follow is:

  1. The pet must be in a crate large enough for it to stand up and move around without any restrictions (Head Space).
  2. The pup/pet must also remain in the crate at all times before and during the flight.
  3. Lastly, unless you purchase a second seat (maybe) the puppy and crate must be placed under the seat in front of you (Head Space) and not restrict any lane of travel or access to the other passengers.
All of the above of points suggest carry on is not a suitable option!

The reason is simple!
Most Airline seats have a maximum Head Space (Max height of space under the passenger's seat) of 10 inches (Delta) and some airlines (United Airlines) head space under the passenger seat is only 7.5 inches. I doubt that an 8 week old Llewellin Setter puppy (or older) will fit comfortably in a crate and under the seat of a passenger airplane, much less the other considerations of several hours of flight, common puppy accidents and consistence of impatient puppy whining!
(United requires a pup to be 4 months old, thus the pup will be even larger and taller).

So please! DO NOT consider "Pet Carry On" as an alternative option for picking up your Llewellin Setter Puppy.

Other Delivery Options

In final note of shipping and Deliveries of your Llewellin Setter Puppy, there are many other options the customer may prefer. I also consider and offer the option.

But no matter the means of Transport, ALL all arrangements must meet my prior approval, certain other guidelines and arrangements according to Federal & Airline rules and regulations, or other. So again it needs to be a coordinated effort.

I must emphasize that all shipping arrangements, the cost associated with transport, shipping, delivery, and/or pick-up of one or more of my Llewellin Setter Puppies, is the sole responsibility and obligation's of the customer.

Lastly! While I do have to charge fairly for my time and efforts, I do not charge hidden, elevated or over priced fees as to burden my customers and increase the cost and I will be happy to discuss any questions in such regards of shipping at the appropriate times.
